Verizon Still Wants To Buy Yahoo, But They Need More Information About The Hack

Verizon Communications Inc, is still willing to buy Yahoo Inc, after the email scandal where almost two billion of users data were hacked. This deal would represent good news to Yahoo interest, giving the fact that it was reported in the last weeks that the negotiations between the two companies were cold.

The Deal Still Makes Sense

Although a Verizon executive explained that the acquisition of Yahoo still makes sense, the telecommunications giant needs more information about the email scandal, considering that Verizon believes that Yahoo knew about what was happening when both were coming in terms of the acquisition.

"The deal makes strategic sense. I've got an obligation to make sure that we protect our shareholders and our investors, so we're not going to jump off a cliff blindly," Verizon executive vice president Marni Walden, who is also Verizon's president of Product Innovation and New Businesses, according to  Reuters, in a conference at Laguna Beach, California.

According to CNET, Walden didn't entertain any scenarios where a deal between both companies would be canceled, which could mean that even when the negotiations are going in a good way, and it could be possible that the acquisition would be complete in a reasonable amount of time, there still chances for Verizon to walk away and not proceed on the buying.

Verizon Wants To Know The Truth

However, many analysts think that the deal could be extremely beneficial to Verizon, because this way it could more chances to compete with giants as Facebook and Google in online advertising, which is a matter where the company is facing problems against its competitors.

In fact, Verizon´s chairman and CEO Lowell McAdam explained that the company has brought in its own people to help Yahoo with its investigation regarding the email scandal, which has just begun to get information, as reported by CNET. Of course, McAdam said he would like this to solved as soon as possible.
