Instagram Stories is getting three new features in the latest app update. The Snapchat-borrowed feature, Stories, is very popular on Instagram and the latest update makes it even better. The new Instagram update gives users the ability to use Boomerang from within Instagram, mention friends and allows verified users to add See More links in their photos or videos.

The photo and video sharing has come a long way since its beginning. According to Instagram, this is the biggest update to Instagram Stories since its inception.

Instagram Update: Boomerang

Now, when a user uses the Instagram Stories feature, he or she can choose to create a quick Boomerang from within the app. Boomerang is a separate Instagram app that creates short one-second video loops. The feature is now available within the Instagram app, making it easier for creators to share either photos, videos or Boomerang clips. From the add story view, the Boomerang mode can be selected under the record button.

Instagram Update: Mentions

The second feature is the ability to mention someone in an Instagram Story. Simply use the "@" symbol followed by the username to mention a friend or another user in a photo or video. Tap the mention to go to the mentioned user's profile. The user will get a Direct Message on Instagram when mentioned. 

Instagram Update: See More Links

Finally, Instagram is currently testing the links feature, according to TechCrunch. The See More links feature will allow creators to place navigable weblinks on their posts. When someone clicks on the link, it will open within the Instagram app. The URL will not be visible, instead a clean See More button will appear at the bottom of the Story. As of now, only some verified users will be able to try this feature out.

The latest Instagram update is now available for download for iOS, Android and Windows 10.
