Pokemon Sun and Moon Guide: Find All TM Locations In Alola [Part 1]; TM Power Ups Explained

Pokemon Sun and Moon changed the traditional way of doing a trainer's battle. Unlike its previous games, Sun and Moon introduced more abilities including new moves. Along with the recent changes comes the Technical Machines, or TMs, that lets a Pokemon learn much more powerful abilities.

Pokemon Sun And Moon's Technical Machines

These Technical Machines are items used by a player to give their Pokemon moves they wouldn't normally learn. In order for it to work, you'll need an open "move slot" on your Pokemon. There are over 100 TMs hidden throughout the Alola Region and we've uncovered all of its locations. TMs can be acquired through plenty of means. It can either be purchased in stores or unlocked through completing specific challenges. Below is a list of all the TMs in Pokemon Sun and Moon along with its locations. 

Technical Machines List And Locations

TM 01 Work Up is a non-damaging type move introduced in Generation V. What it does is increase the attack stats of a Pokemon. By defeating all trainers in a Trainer School in Hau'oli City, you can acquire the "Work Up" move.

TM 02 Dragon Claw is a massively damaging Dragon-type move introduced in Generation III. When obtained by a Pokémon, its huge claws hook and slash the foe quickly and with great power. This move can be found along the northern route exit in the Vast Poni Canyon in Poni Island.

TM 03 Psyshock is a special move that inflicts physical damage on an enemy. This move calculates the damage using the user's special attack and the opponents defense stat. It is located to the right, before entering the Lake proper in the Lake of Sunne in Ula'ula.

TM 04 Calm Mind is a psychic type move that raises the user's special attack and special defense stats by one stage each. You can snag it for 10,000 in the Pokemon Center located in the Seafolk Village, Poni Island. 

TM 05 Roar is a non-damaging type move that has been used since Generation II. Useful only in the wild, it's a terrifying roar that drives wild Pokémon away. It is found on the South East corner where the path meets. Take the upper path to find this in a nook in Kala'e Bay, Melemele Island.

TM 06 Toxic is a move that badly poisons the target. The amount of damage from the poison increases every turn. It is located in the Docks of Aether Paradise. Simply go to the left-foreground corner of the docks and there it will be.  

TM 07 Hail is sold at a Pokemon Center for 50,000 in the Battle Royal Dome in Akala Island. It is a move that severely damages all non-ice type Pokemon.

TM 08 Bulk Up is a non-damaging move that raises a user's attack and defense stat by one stage each. It can be found in Koni Koni City, Akala Island. Buy TM 08 at the Pokemon Center for 10,000.

TM 09 Venoshock inflicts critical damage on an opponent. When obtained by a Pokemon, its power is doubled to 130 if the target is poisoned. Same like TM 08 (Bulk Up), this move can also be obtained in a Pokemon Center in Koni Koni City, Akala Island for 10,000.

TM 10 Hidden Power is a move unaffected by Pixilate, Refrigerate, Aerilate and Ion Deluge.
It is a peculiar move that changes the type and power depending on the Pokemon using it. It is given to you by the NPC to the left of the vendor in a Day Care Center at Paniola Ranch, Akala Island.

TM 11 Sunny Day is a non-damaging move that intensifies a user's sun for five turns, powering up its fire type moves. It is sold at the Pokemon Center for 50,000 in the Royal Battle Dome in Akala Island.

TM 12 Taunt is a non-damaging Dark-type move introduced in Generation III. Unlike other moves, Taunt will affect a target with a substitute. If the Pokémon using Taunt goes before the target and the target selected a status move, the target's move will fail. To get it, talk to the punk wearing black and white clothes parked in a motor home. This will be in Route 12, Ula'ula Island.

TM 13 Ice Beam is an ice type attack that blasts the foe with an icy beam. Its location is in Mount Lanakila, Ula'ula Island. After riding the elevator up, enter the cave to the north east. Near the entrance to the large chamber, you will find this TM hidden there.

TM 14 Blizard is an ice-type move introduced in Generation one. It's the strongest Ice-type move in Pokemon Sun and Moon that literally freezes its opponent. It is sold at the Pokemon Center for 30,000 in Sea Folk Village, Poni Poni Island.

TM 15 Hyper Beam is an extremely powerful attack. The attacker becomes so tired that it has to rest the next turn. It is also sold in the Pokemon Center for 50,000 at Sea Folk Village in Poni-Poni Island.
