Grand Theft Auto IV First Patch Arrives After 6 Years But...

After 6 long years, Rockstar has finally released the next patch for Grand Theft Auto IV. Despite the good news, there are some disappointing news for some fans, that is.

The patch doesn't really have some big massive updates as everyone expects. That is the first disappointment there for you since it has been a long wait. The second disappointment is that the patch is only for PC gamers. That clearly means Xbox and PS4 owners will not have them. But as there's really no major update, that's fine.

With these, there are some rumors that the reason for this small update was that Rockstar is focusing on developing Grand Theft Auto V as well as its multiplayer Grand Theft Auto Online. The update sends a message that Rockstar is still committed to its old game titles despite moving forward to the new ones.

The Grand Theft Auto IV first patch includes adding the error code "WTV270" to indicate the problem connecting to Windows Live Sign in Assistant/Games for Windows Live Servers. They also added Windows 8, 8.1, and 10 to compatible OS check. They also applied some bug fixes to some pervading issues, such as the bug when the frame rate exceeds at 60fps when you do the "Out of Commission" mission impossible; when the "Research Usage" indicator appears on on graphics cards with more than 2GB of VRAM; a bug that stops you from changing your settings when using modern video cards; a bug found in the "Brief" menu when you scroll the text; and the bug in the map crosshairs in various resolutions.

Rockstar also added some minor performance optimizations and added a controller image in the controller configuration area. It also fixed the issue called the "drawlist overflow" crash. It might not be much but players just have to concede after 6 years of waiting.
