Gigi Hadid On Social Media Break; Victoria's Secret Model Reveals Weight Loss Caused By Thyroid Problem

Victoria's Secret model Gigi Hadid is out with sad news for all her followers. The 21-year-old model has decided to take a break on social media and recently announced that her controversial weight loss is due to a thyroid problem.

Hadid's supporters have been commenting about her obvious weight loss on Twitter and during an interview with Elle, she unveiled a secret that shocked fans so as to address the issue.

"My metabolism actually changed like crazy this year. I have Hashimoto's disease. It's a thyroid disease, and it's now been two years since taking the medication for it, so for the VS show I didn't want to lose any more weight, I just want to have muscles in the right place, and if my butt can get a little perkier, then that's good."

Though diagnosed with the disease, Hadid still went on with the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show held on Dec. 5 and actually rocked it. She graced the catwalk with her sister Bella Hadid who, on the other hand, is suffering from Lyme disease.

Another part of the news she shared is her decision to keep off social media for a month. Hadid will be on hiatus to detox and rest. According to her, the decision is "empowering" since she still has the power to choose what she wants the world to see.

She stated that the world feels so entitled to other people's lives and it is crazy. She said she needs to take a break so she can share all the things with her supporters when she comes back. She added that anyone can follow her as long as they respect her humane decision to take her mind off all the distractions on social media.

The supermodel is in a relationship with "Pillow Talk" singer Zayn Malik who has just released a collaboration with one of her best friends, Taylor Swift. The piece was made for the new E.L. James' film adaptation, "Fifty Shades Darker."
