‘Grey’s Anatomy’Season 13 Spoilers, News And Updates: Is Alex Karev’s Absence On The Show For Good?

When Alex left Grey's Sloan Memorial in "Grey's Anatomy" season 13, fans who learned to love his character, grew worried and anxious. Will Justin Chambers go the way of his previous mates such as Patrick Dempsey, Sarah Ramirez, and Sandra O? Rumors that he will be leaving the show for good have been growing because of his absence in the hospital.

Alex Has Deep Legal Troubles

Alex has been through a lot in "Grey's Anatomy" season 13. He was in deep legal troubles that appeared to be caused by no one else but him. He began to spend a lot of his time in the show in the courtroom or inside prison bars rather in his duties at the hospital or the clinic where he was transferred. This started the fans to speculate that his 'doctoring' days could be over.

There were also rumors that "Grey's Anatomy" season 13 might explore the possibility of transforming the platonic relationship between Meredith and Alex to a more intimate and romantic one. But it seems that things are not happening towards this end. And show creator Shonda Rhimes has not given any hint on whether Alex will be axed or not.

Are The Producers Thinking Of Spinning-Off Alex's Character?

There are also rumors that say Alex had grown to be an important character in "Grey's Anatomy" season 13. These rumors say that in the event that he eventually leaves the show, Rhimes, and the other ABC executives will think of a spinoff for his character. If that is the case, Alex's days in the Sloan Memorial Hospital will definitely be over.

However, there is no way to confirm these rumors since the producers and Chambers himself are coy about the matter. The fact is Karev is not in the hospital anymore. So, what is he doing now? If he's not in the facility, he will not be able to make amends with Jo or continue his relationship with Meredith. Fans of "Grey's Anatomy" season 13 will just have to watch the show to see what happens to Alex.
