Last Dec. 15, iOS owners had the opportunity to download Super Mario Run for the first time. Nintendo's newest and first mobile platformer proved to be a success among players. However, Android users are not able to share the same sentiment. Until now, Nintendo has remained mum on when their mobile game will launch on Android. What fans do know is that the game will release on the Android platform "sometime in 2017." Obviously, such an information for the Super Mario Run Android release date is not enough.

iOS Users Get First Taste Of Super Mario Run

Obviously, Android users are out of luck with getting their hands on Super Mario Run early on. There have been reports of scammers taking advantage of Android users' impatience and pirated Nintendo's game by providing APK downloads. The very reason why Nintendo chose to launch their mobile platformer on Apple devices first is that they are very much concerned with security. Besides, Super Mario Run had its global debut during an Apple event last fall so getting the first dibs is no surprise for Apple. Polygon even asked a representative when they will release Super Mario Run on Android. Their answer was quite vague saying that more information about the Android release "will be revealed in the future."

Nintendo Is Firm About Super Mario Run Happening Sometime In 2017

For iOS users who did not immediately get their hands on Super Mario Run by noon EST, the wait has already been agonizing. So how much more for Android users? Lots of tweets have been made about Android fans getting jealous of iPhone owners and impatient with their own platform release.

Guessing the exact release date for Super Mario Run would be a futile effort since Nintendo has made it clear that they wanted to make their game special and for them to do that, they have to focus on developing it for just one platform. Sadly, that platform happened to be for iOS devices. The only answer that Android fans of Super Mario Run can hold on to is that the game will happen sometime in 2017. Who knows? Nintendo might release Super Mario Run on the Android platform before the Switch arrives, which will be sometime somewhere in March 2017.
