Samsung Galaxy S8 And S8 Plus Model Numbers Leaked

Both Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus are soon to be released based on many rumors.

Samsung Galaxy S8 And S8 Plus Model Numbers Leaked

Last year, Samsung assigned model numbers for the Samsung Galaxy S7 is SM-G930 while Galaxy S7 Edge is SM-G935. Since these numbers are normally moving in a sequence, one would expect the new handsets, which are Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus to have SM-G940 and SM-G945 as its model numbers.

However, as reported by GSMArena, it’s unlikely to be the case, given that the number 4 is usually avoided in the culture of both Chinese and Korean since this number is said to have similar pronunciation with the word “death.” It’s not uncommon for even buildings to not use the number 4 to mark the relevant floor, this is something they take very seriously in that part of the world.

Therefore, according to a Chinese source, SM-G9500 will be the Chinese market’s Samsung Galaxy S8 and SM-G950X is the Global device where X will be replaced by letters depending on carrier or region, that is the same goes for the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus, which will go by as SM-G955X.

The given information was confirmed by a leaked User Agent profile that shows the model number SM-G955U. The said Profile also confirms that Android 7.0 Nougat will be the platform of choice for the upcoming Samsung flagship smartphones, those are Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus.

Samsung Galaxy S8 And S8 Plus Release Date

In an additional report, both the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus are expected to be revealed at MWC 2017 in Barcelona and should hit the shelves in the middle of April this year. According to TechRadar, that exact release date has now been rumored by @Ricciolo1, who accurately leaked the launch date of the Galaxy S7, so it's looking likely. In terms of when you'll be able to fondle it for the first time, expect a two week wait - so March 13 is a great guess.
