Injustice 2 Updates: No Microtransactions For In-Game Gear

The hype is building up for the release of NetherRealm's Injustice 2, and the invites to play the beta are still going out. News has it that there will be no microtransactions for gear in the game, so players don't have to worry about anyone in the community paying to win.

No Microtransactions For Gear

According to Gaming Bolt, Ed Boon confirmed this news when they announced the new Robin and the codes for the beta being mailed out. Players won't be able to purchase any in-game gear, but that also doesn't mean that Injustice 2 will be completely free of microtransactions. There's a chance that NetherRealm will be having some DLC characters up for sale as well as some cosmetic goods.

Segment Next reports that Injustice 2 will probably have the widest character roster in any NetherRealm game. Aside from the DC characters that have been teased for Injustice, there are also third party characters that are said to come to the game like Spawn, Hellboy and a bunch of fighters form NetherRealm's other fighting game franchise, Mortal Kombat.

Damian Wayne And The Injustice Beta

As of now, players can participate in the beta for Injustice 2, and they will be able to use characters Batman, Superman, Supergirl and Atrocitus. NetherRealm had just recently revealed its playable Robin a.k.a. Damian Wayne, and based on his pre-fight dialogue with Batman, it's possible that he was responsible for the demise of the first Robin, Dick Grayson. Anything goes when comics have alternate timelines.

The Robin gameplay footage also showcases Damian fighting with a chokuto sword - in contrast with the other Robins who use bo staffs and escrima sticks. He also has an arsenal of bat-gadgets in his disposal, making him play like a younger (and more violent) Batman.

Injustice 2 is playable for the Xbox One and PS4. The game is slated for a release this coming May 16.
