Samsung Galaxy Note 2 vs. Galaxy Mega: Top 5 Reasons To Go Smaller

Samsung announced its ginormous Galaxy Mega 6.3 earlier this month and a lot of people are debating whether they should opt for the bigger bad boy or choose the smaller phablet, Galaxy Note 2.

While the Galaxy Mega 6.3 holds the promise of being the device of choice for those looking for bigger screens, the Note 2 still floats our boat.

Here are the top five reasons why consumers should pick the Galaxy Note 2 over its sibling Galaxy Mega; why going for the smaller phablet makes more sense:

1. Processor And Storage

The Galaxy Note 2 touts a quad-core Exynos processor, clocked at 1.6GHz with 2GB of RAM. The Galaxy Mega, on the other hand, has a 1.7GHz dual-core Exynos 5250 processor with 1.5GB of RAM. Moreover, the Note 2 is available in 16/32/64 GB options, whereas the Galaxy Mega is available in 8/16GB variants.

Therefore, if you store a lot of media on your device, then the Galaxy Note 2 is better than the Galaxy Mega.

2. Battery Support

A 3,100 mAh battery powers the Galaxy Note 2, whereas a slightly bigger 3,200 mAh battery fuels the Galaxy Mega. The 100mAh difference is a little alarming, especially considering that the 6.3-inch screen of the mega would consume more power than the 5.5-inch one in the Galaxy Note 2.

3. Stylus

The S Pen stylus is the main selling point of the Galaxy Note 2, and this feature is notably missing in the colossal Galaxy Mega. Another reason why the smaller sibling is worth going for over the newer phablet.

4. Price

Even though Samsung is yet to reveal the official price, German retailer Notebooksbilliger has the 16GB version of the Galaxy Mega up for pre-order for € 899.00 (nearly $1,175).The unlocked version of the Galaxy Note 2 (16GB) costs between $600 to $625, making it cheaper than the Galaxy Mega 6.3.

5. Portability/Grip

The 5.5-inch Galaxy Note 2 is more portable and can still be used single-handed, which could be quite tedious with the 6.3-inch Galaxy Mega. This factor could very well turn prospective buyers off from the 6.3-inch Galaxy Mega. Imagine trying to fit it in your pocket!
