NBA Trade Rumors: Brook Lopez To Pelicans In Exchange For Tyreke Evans And Others

The New Orleans Pelicans are slowly climbing the ladder in the NBA rankings and they might need a little help. Currently, they are 3 games behind from the 8th spot in the Western Conference.

The Curious Case Of New Orleans Pelicans

Everybody thought that this will be the year where the New Orleans Pelicans will somehow dominate the Western Conference due to their young nucleus and their Superstar, Anthony Davis. However, that wasn’t the case during the first 20 games of the season. Anthony Davis was hurt early, Jrue Holiday was inactive and Tyreke Evans is listed day to day for most the games. The Pelicans found a gem in rookie Buddy Hield but it is not enough for the Pelicans to go over the .500 win mark.

New Orleans Pelicans began searching for another force in the paint. Their idea is to give Anthony Davis a partner which he can rely just in case he is not effective inside. There were a couple of names that are already being discussed, one of them is Jahlil Okafor and the other is Brooklyn Nets’ Brook Lopez. Okafor is a rising star from the 76ers but getting the former NBA All-Star Brook Lopez is more beneficial.

Pelicans And Nets Propose Trade Leaked

According to Basketball Insiders, the proposed trade is structured like this; Tyreke Evans, Langston Galloway, Tim Frazier and a 2018 protected first-round pick will go to Brooklyn Nets in exchange for, Brook Lopez. Giving up Tyreke Evans will be the hardest part of the trade. But due to being injury plague, Pelicans are willing to deal him which will give more playing time to the emerging Terrence Jones.

Also, Tyreke Evans will be a free agent next season and dealing him early is the best for Pelicans. In the event that this trade won’t happen, there’s a big possibility that New Orleans Pelicans won’t make it to the playoffs.
