Samsung To Release New Gear VR Designed For Galaxy S8, S8 Plus

Just a year ago, a leaked render appeared pointing the possibility of Samsung releasing a dedicated controller for the Gear VR. However, with the latest rumor, that does not seem to be the case, because reports are now suggesting that by next month, the South Korean tech company might unveil a new Samsung Gear VR instead for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus - it also comes with a new controller.

What Is The New Samsung Gear VR Headset?

According to Sam Mobile, a tweet posted by Roland Quandt claimed that a new Samsung Gear VR under the model number SM-R323 is coming. The new Samsung Gear VR is said to feature a new front cover that can hold the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus. The tweet also suggested that the new Samsung Gear VR headset could come with a single hand controller, which could be similar to the wireless controller bundle with Google's Daydream View VR headset.

Further Analysis Of The Leaked Information

Meanwhile, Enzuke highlighted the similarities between the Gear VR headset of the Galaxy S7 and for the Galaxy S8. For the previous flagship, its Samsung Gear VR headset features the model number SM-R323, which falls similar to the rumored upcoming Samsung Gear VR SM-R324.

It was stated further that with the addition of the single hand remote controller dedicated to the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus, which is also expected to be similar to what Google's Daydream View VR headset offers, hints that users will have the ease of access while gaming, multimedia and playbacks. Not only that, users will also no longer have the need to go for a third-party Bluetooth controller as an extra purchase.

How Much Will It Cost?

Sadly, the leaks shared no information regarding what could be the retail price of the new Samsung Gear VR. The only thing that people could do is to make an estimate based from the current Samsung Gear VR headset, which retails for $99.
