Nokia To Release Lumia 625, Not Lumia 928 On May 14?

While rumors surrounding the anticipated release of the Verizon-bound Lumia 928 smartphone have been gathering momentum, opinions are divided over whether the WP8-powered handset will debut on May 14 at the London event. A new report now claims that Nokia will launch the mid-range Lumia 625 on May 14.

The latest report comes courtesy of a Chinese website WPbar, which cites an anonymous source and suggests that Nokia's Lumia 625 will debut along with the Lumia 925 or Catwalk at the London event.

"Apart from the Nokia Lumia 928 and Nokia Lumia Catwalk, the Finnish company will reportedly release another Nokia Lumia smart phone range called the Nokia Lumia 625. The upcoming mid-range smart phone is speculated to have larger screen display next to the remarkable features and specifications," reports IBTimes. "According to Chinese web site reports, Nokia Lumia 625 will have a 4.7-inch WVGA screen display which is bigger compared to the 4.5-inch screen displays of the other Lumia smart phone range."

The mid-range Lumia 625 is believed to be the follow-up to the Lumia 620, which released in December 2012 and has just been released in the U.S. The Lumia 625 will purportedly tout a 4.7-inch WVGA display with 199 ppi. The LTE-enabled smartphone will run on WP8 and have 512MB of RAM and a 2000mAh battery.

Previous reports have indicated that Nokia will launch a trio of devices on May 14, which include the Lumia 928, Lumia 925 and Nokia EOS. On the other hand, a recent report indicated that the Lumia 928 may not debut at the company's mid-May event.

With so much anticipation surrounding the Nokia event, it will be interesting to see which smartphones make their appearance finally. However, WPbar notes that if the Lumia 625 does not debut on May 14 it could make an appearance in June.
