Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom Might Have 10x Optical Zoom (Rumor)

With the recently leaked Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom creating all kinds of buzz, rumors are arising that the phone will feature 10x optical zoom.

The phone is supposed to have a powerful camera, and now it seems it will eliminate digital zoom, a feature present on most phone cameras that disrupts the quality of the photo.

With an optical zoom, loss of detail is greatly reduced when zooming in on an object.

Rumor has it that the device has a 4.3-inch qHD display. That makes the display smaller and with less resolution than the Galaxy S3 and S4, along with the Galaxy Camera.

Right now the only other phone on the market with lossless zoom feature on its camera is the Nokia 808. Powered by the Symbian operating system, it has 41 megapixels and a big image sensor that allows it to take pictures with a 3x zoom.

The Samsung Galaxy Camera uses Android and has mobile broadband, making it a smart camera. It has a 21x optical zoom but cannot make or receive calls.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom is supposed to have a 16MP camera, the same as the Galaxy Camera. The device is also rumored to have 8GB of storage built in. It will also come with the essentials, microSD card slot, Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi.

The Galaxy S4 Zoom is expected to be a compact phone. Some compact cameras are 20mm thick. Problems with digital zoom range from graininess to a major loss in detail. For video there are also sound complaints.

The phone is expected to see an announcement in early June with a possible release date as early as later this summer or next fall.
