HTC U To Unveil Innovative Specs And Features In April

While most people are anticipating Samsung's S8 launch, HTC is prepping up to unleash its most innovative smartphone ever, the HTC U. This smartphone is expected to be HTC's new flagship for this year, especially with a set of specs on par with its more popular competitions. The HTC U still carries the code name "Ocean" and is yet to be made official. However, its proudest specs and features have already leaked online.

According to Phone Arena, a reliable tipster has already confirmed that the HTC U will come with a 5.5-inch display and a 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution. It will then be powered by the fastest processor from Qualcomm which is the Snapdragon 835 chipset.

Additionally, the HTC U smartphone will come with the Edge Sense technology which will allow users to customize gestures for the edges of the screen. It is basically composed of frame-embedded sensors that can recognize actions like swiping and squeezing, Venture Beat reported. Moreover, there will likewise be a 12 MP camera with a Sony IMX362 sensor on the back and a 16 MP camera with a Sony IMX351 camera on the front. Storage options are 64 GB and 128 GB, and there will also be a microSD slot for storage expansion.

As for the release date of the HTC U, it was revealed that the phone will be made official mid to late April. The global launch will then take place a few weeks after. The HTC U will be the third flagship phone to hit the market this year. The first one was LG's G6 smartphone and the second one is Samsung's Galaxy S8.

Furthermore, the upcoming HTC is not actually the first phone in the company's U-series. In fact, it is the third phone in line. The first two HTC U phones were unveiled last January and they go by the names HTC U Play and HTC U Ultra.
