Overwatch Update: Jeff Kaplan Discusses Doomfist And Future Plans

Recently, Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan sat down for an interview discussing the game's future plans and additions. In addition, Kaplan comments on the performance of the newly added hero Orisa. During the interview, the director mentions a bit about Doomfist and how the character was made.

As for Orisa, Kaplan said that she was doing well in the game. Several players reported that the hero is a bit underpowered. However, he assures that the team is keeping a close eye on that issue. It was mentioned that there are issues regarding her role in the game. However, once all confusions are settled, it would be clear where Orisa will be in terms of balance.

On the other hand, Kaplan comments regarding the community being vocal on their concerns and disappointments. By that, the team has built a relationship with the community, which allows them to keep informed if something is off, and needed to be changed or fixed.

Aside from that, Kaplan revealed that they have tons of big plans for the game. They wanted to continue to evolve particularly on the content through new hero additions, special events, making the game's plot more interesting for the fans and more. For its eSports' side, their Overwatch League will also receive big plans in the future and fans would definitely experience it someday.

Lastly, the director talks about Doomfist and how he exists today. He said that it's the community's own doing bringing up Doomfist's existence and the team is enjoying their enthusiasm for the character. However, he recalled what happened to Sombra's reveal, which was poorly planned and executed, and what they have learned from that mistake. Nonetheless, Kaplan hopes that the community will not burn themselves too early on the character since no signs of his arrival has been released yet.

Overwatch is now available on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
