Gearbox vs G2A: Everything About The Infamous Conflict

Like any other, the gaming industry also has its own share of feuds. This could be between publishers and developers, or perhaps studios and gamers. They may differ in the parties in involved, but the conflict could somehow be the same. This is exactly what is happening between Gearbox and G2A, developing a fight that has gradually bubbled.

According to Kotaku, Gearbox drew flaks following its partnership with G2A (a key resale site). Things started plummeting down soon after a popular YouTuber by the name of John "TotalBiscuit" Bain threatened the company. That unless something significant happens, he will stop covering all games from the said studio.

Fortunately, Gearbox listened and gave in to the request. However, it has presented a list of demands specifically for G2A to cover. It is worth noting that these demands came from the discussion of both Gearbox and Bain. They basically aim to de-monetize the elements specifically on the service involved in both security and fraud detection. If, and only if, G2A does not comply, the deal with Gearbox will immediately be on void. (The list of demands can be accessed via Kotaku.)

Bain, in the past, coined G2A's business as protection racket, suggesting that their platform only enables fraud. This results to developers having to partner with them, thus, in a way, allows the company to earn more money. If one is to put it out, the company is really in a bad shape. Not to mention the fact that they have countlessly failed to protect all users and developers under their umbrella. This one here is quite ironic for the service they offer, which is protection.

In a report from Polygon, G2A has just announced the arrival of 200 developers - all of which have signed contracts with the G2A Direct program. The latter offers priority listing and access to the site's entire key database, to name a few.
