ABC Renews 'Quantico' With A Shorter Season And A New Producer

While ABC has received criticisms for canceling some decently performing shows, fans were relieved that the network has renewed “Quantico” for another season. However, the last-minute renewal has earned the show fewer episodes.

‘Quantico’ Season 3 Gets The Green Light From ABC

The drama thriller series, “Quantico” starring Priyanka Chopra, Josh Hopkins, Jake McLaughlin, and Aunjanue Ellis, has been officially renewed by ABC. The announcement was released as soon as the show aired the final episode of its second season, which started its run in September 2016. However, compared to its previous seasons, which ran for 22 episodes, the upcoming third season will only have 13 episodes.

“Quantico” Season 3 is slated to premiere this fall after ABC released its new schedule of shows for 2017-2018. Aside from cutting down on the number of episodes, executive producer Joshua Safran will reportedly leave his role as one of the lead showrunners and will remain as the show’s consultant. The said arrangement was revealed to be part of the show’s renewal process.

ABC Gives ‘Quantico’ Another Chance

It has been revealed that the decision to renew “Quantico” was actually a last-minute choice. It seems like the network initially did not have plans on giving the said show another season because it was not able to keep the momentum from its debut success. However, given that the show actually broke records for ABC and raked in great ratings in its first season, ABC has decided to give “Quantico” another chance.

“Quantico” was unexpectedly entertaining and kept the story going with a balanced cast. While ABC is still looking for Safran’s replacement, many are hoping that the change will make the show better. Aside from “Quantico”, ABC has also renewed other popular shows such as “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”, “Fresh Off The Boat”, and “How To Get Away With Murder”.
