Drake Dominates Billboard Music Awards 2017; Beyonce, BTS, And More Winners Announced

The list of nominees of the awaited Billboard Music Awards 2017 was released on April 10. On May 21, the official awards ceremony was held in Nevada with Drake dominating the roster of winners.

Drake Dominates This Year’s Billboard Music Awards

The Billboard Music Awards 2017 just concluded after it was held at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The said event was hosted by hip hop artist, Ludacris and “High School Musical” star, Vanessa Hudgens. With countless of artists nominated for numerous awards and countless more attending the show, Drake went home as the big winner.

Drake and The Chainsmokers garnered the most nominations in the said awards show after each got 22 nominations. However, Drake went home with 13 wins including some of the highest awards of the night, “Top Artist” and “Top Male Artist”. Drake beat popular talents like Adele, Justin Bieber, and Beyonce in those two categories.

Billboard Music Awards 2017 Highlights

Aside from Drake taking over this year’s Billboards Awards Music show, Beyonce was the female artist who went home with the most wins, nabbing “Top Female Artist” and “Top R&B Artist”. Former Fifth Harmony member, Camila Cabello got attention after singing her new song “Crying On The Club” live for the first time. Cher, who performed her all-time hit song, “Believe” was given the “Icon Award”.

Another highlight of the show is the participation of Korean pop artist, BTS, who won the “Top Social Award”, besting Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, and Selena Gomez. The said K-pop group garnered attention for being the first Korean act to take the top spot in Billboard World Albums Chart and remain there for several weeks. Their heartwarming speech was delivered by a member, Rap Monster, who was fluent in English and got a nod from many famous artists like Miley Cyrus.
