Unlocked HTC One Mini now available to pre-order in the U.S. for $522.50

The unlocked version of the recently launched HTC One Mini is now available for pre-order in the U.S. at a starting price of $522.50.

Just like the original HTC One, the HTC One Mini was also launched in Glacier Silver and Stealth Black colors. The HTC One Mini features the same aluminum body found on the flagship HTC One. U.S. online retailer Negri Electronics is accepting pre-orders for the unlocked variant of the handset in both silver and black colors at a starting price tag of $522.50.

"We are proud to be behind the market's leading smartphone and now, with the addition of the HTC One mini, the best smartphone family in the world," said Peter Chou, CEO of HTC Corporation. "The HTC One mini embodies everything that makes the HTC One a success on a smaller but equally eye-catching scale."

The HTC One has become one of the most popular Android smartphones after its release in April this year. To capitalize on the success of the HTC One and to compete with Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, the company launched the compact version of the handset, the HTC One Mini, in July this year. HTC announced at the press event that the handset will be available in select markets from Aug. and will be released globally in Sept. this year.

The HTC One Mini is positioned as a mid-level smartphone and sports a smaller 4.3-inch display with 720 x 1280 resolution and a pixel density of 341 pixels per inch (ppi). A Qualcomm 1.4GHz dual-core Snapdragon 400 processor powers the handset. The smartphone also has 1GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage without the option to extend the memory using a microSD card.

The HTC One is the closest Android smartphone competitor to the Samsung Galaxy S4 and other top-end handsets. Similarly, HTC will hope that the HTC One Mini gives stiff competition to the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini and other smartphones in its category.

Not all smartphone users like a big smartphone and, therefore, the HTC One Mini may appeal to customers who are looking out for a smartphone with a smaller display size. If you are planning to buy a new handset will you buy the HTC One Mini?
