Google Pixel 6 Pro Leaks: Is Face Unlock Coming After All?

Google continues to develop the Pixel 6 Pro's Face Unlock feature.

There is still talk going around about Google's Face Unlock feature for their mobile devices.

Just recently, there has been a leak from those in the know suggesting that the feature could eventually arrive on the phone at some point later this year.

According to 9to5Google, after conducting some research, they discovered that the most recent version of Android for Pixel phones includes code referring to a CPU boost that is applied whenever Face Unlock is required.

In April, 9To5Google published an article stating that the Google Pixel 6 Pro was supposed to roll out with a face unlock feature.

However, sources with knowledge of the situation stated that the function was pulled relatively close to the time of launch.

It was also discovered that the feature had never been intended for the Pixel 6, but rather for the more expensive premium model.

This difference might be attributable to the fact that the two phones have front-facing cameras that are distinct from one another.

In contrast to the IMX355 used in the Pixel 6, the Sony IMX663 used in the Pixel 6 Pro is capable of dual-pixel auto-focus (DPAF).

Google Pixel 6 Pro Face Unlock

Google Pixel fans may recall that there was a lot of speculation about the Google Pixel 6 phones and Face Unlock.

These rumors circulated both before and after the phones were released, as some were somehow expecting the feature to launch on the Pixel 6 Pro.

The feature had problems with dependability and battery life, which are the reasons why this option has not been made available up until this point.

However, it does appear that the software developers working on Android 12 are laying the foundations for Face Unlock on the Pixel 6 Pro to finally show up at some point in the future.

Even though Google has not yet confirmed anything new about Face Unlock just yet.

As reported by TechRadar, it is possible that Google has now resolved whatever problems needed to be resolved and is ready to roll out Face Unlock on the Pixel 6 Pro.

Although this phone does not have the radar sensors that enable Face Unlock on the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL, the technology of its front-facing camera as well as Google's expertise in artificial intelligence may be sufficient.

Release of Face Unlock

Even nine months after the launch of the Pixel 6 Pro, Google's smartphone does not support the face unlock feature.

Numerous users might have accepted that Google's Face Unlock technology might not be coming anytime soon to their devices.

However, recent discoveries and reports prove otherwise. Face unlock features for the Pixel 6 Pro are reportedly still in the works at Google.

According to NOTEBOOKCHECK, it is possible that the launch of the feature will now coincide with the release of Android 13 and the Pixel 7 series, both of which are slated for the fall.

It is speculated that face unlock functionality will be added to the Google Pixel 6 Pro after the release of Android 13 and the Pixel 7 series.

Customers who purchase a phone from Google's Pixel 6 series have more to gain in the event that their device requires repair.

This is because the displays on the Google Pixel 6 are significantly more affordable than those found on competing models from Samsung and Apple.
