Ubisoft's 'Far Cry 6' Available for Free Play This Weekend, Offers Great Prizes

The action-adventure first-person shooter game is free to play on consoles and PC now through the weekend.

Those who are still on the fence about purchasing Ubisoft's Far Cry 6 can now get a chance to sample the game completely free of charge. From now until August 7, gamers can get their hands on the game for free on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC.

Gamespot reported that Ubisoft will let gamers download the entire base game complete with all free DLC the game developer has released since Far Cry 6 was released back in October 2021. Additionally, the game will be on sale for the next few days, so gamers who decide to purchase will get up to 60% off if they buy after the free-play days.

Discover the 'Far Cry 6' Story During Free Play Weekend

Ubisoft's Far Cry 6 takes place in the fictional Cuban island of Yara, a tropical oasis that is held captive under the tyrannical rule of dictator Anton Castillo, which is played by actor Giancarlo Esposito of "Breaking Bad" and "Better Call Saul" fame, Forbes reported. Gamers will play as Dani Rojas and can select the avatar's gender, a feature that has become quite popular in recent Ubisoft games.

The player as Dani will then have to gather NPC companions and battle gear as they explore and fight their way through the deadly jungles and towns of Yara. Those who have played Far Cry will be familiar with this set up, but for those who haven't, they will be in for an interesting ride.

While Far Cry 6 definitely looks impressive on new-gen platforms and high-end PCs, it does deliver the same caliber of action and adventure in an entertaining open-world format that can be appreciated across all gaming platforms. There's also nothing too new with its formula, but is enticing enough for its discounted price. Gamers should note that Season Passes and deluxe versions of the game are discounted as well.
