Capcom Has Acquired Swordcanes Studio

Capcom officially acquired Swordcanes Studio, a support studio that worked for Street Fighter 6, Final Fantasy 16, and Hi-Fi Rush. 

"Swordcanes' strength lies in 3D computer graphics production technology in consumer home video game development, and the studio has carried out work on major Capcom titles in the past," Capcom shared

Both companies have been working together for multiple projects already, making the acquisition easier for both parties.

Capcom and Swordcanes Studio Through the Years

Among the companies biggest collaboration are Street Fighter 6 and Monster Hunter Rise

The studio primarily worked on the CG assets and animation. Moreover, Swordscanes was also assisted by Bandai Namco for the character modeling in Pokemon Snap

"As such, Capcom decided to make the studio its wholly-owned subsidiary to sustainably bolster its developmental and technological capabilities," Capcom stated. 

Capcom's Future Games 

With the recent acquisition, Capcom is firm on continuing the 11 years of full-year operation profit growth. 

"During the three months ended June 30, 2023, Capcom's core Digital Contents business delivered sales of 13.5 million units for its home video game software, surpassing the 11.7 million units in sales in the same period of the previous year and significantly contributing to the value of the company's content," the company announced. 

Along with retaining the popularity of Street Fighter 6 and Resident Evil 4, Capcom released its newest game Exoprimal, which already surpassed one million players.
