Powered by Google Tensor G3

The Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are both powered by Google Tensor G3. This chip is designed by the company specifically to power the Pixel phones.

The latest Tensor chip allows Google to offer high-quality photos and videos. In addition, it also ensures that the users are protected with powerful security, paired with high performance. For Google, the Tensor chip stands out due to its focus on analyzing complex artificial intelligence and machine learning processes.

AI-Powered Smartphone

During the Pixel 8 Series' launch, Google boasted several AI-powered tools that will be available to the users. This includes cutting-edge computational photography and image processing.

The latest Pixel phones are equipped with tools like Photo Unblur, Magic Eraser, Best Take, Live Caption, Call Screen, and more. These are all possible using the Tensor G3 chip.

Impressive Display Features

Despite being the latest model, the Pixel 8 is slightly smaller than its predecessor, Pixel 7. It has a 6.2-inch and 6.7-inch Actua display and is 42% brighter than the previous model.

In addition, users are not hindered from using their phones in direct sunlight due to its strong display feature. The Pixel 8 Pro also has a temperature sensor that allows users to scan an object to get the temperature.

Enhanced Camera System

Both Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are powered with upgraded camera systems that rival the specs of iPhone 15 Series and Samsung Galaxy S23 Series. The Pixel 8 Pro has a main camera that can capture even in low-light settings.

It also has a bigger ultrawide lens for Macro Focus and a telephoto lens that can take 10x photos at optical quality. There are also Pro Controls that allow users to have more creative control over their photos since they can adjust the shutter speed, ISO, and more.

7 Years of Updates

For the first time ever, Google announced that it will provide up to seven years of software support for Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. This includes OS upgrades, security updates, and regular Feature Drops.

As of writing, it is rare for smartphone brands to commit to supporting a phone model that long. Most of the time manufacturers and developers can offer up to four years of software support only.
