Events are the epitome of successful player engagement in video games. Following the Halloween event that Pokemon GO and Niantic held during the spooky season, it's no surprise why many players would wish to come back into playing the popular augmented reality game. Due to the event, Niantic has earned $2.3 million total between October 25 and 29.
Pokemon GO Thanksgiving Event Will Come First Before Christmas
It seems Niantic wishes to take advantage of the holidays as they are reportedly planning to roll out a seasonal event celebrating Thanksgiving for Pokemon GO. The Thanksgiving event will allegedly replicate those bonuses and rewards released during the Halloween event. This includes increased spawn rates and sightings of several Pokemon, Fearows in particular, and decreased walking distance in Buddy Pokemon.
This event may just be a possibility or rumor, but the unnamed source who leaked this event accurately predicted the Halloween event before it came true in Pokemon GO. Reportedly, although planning for the Thanksgiving event is not complete, the event will run for a week. All the bonuses and rewards during Pokemon GO's Halloween event will come back to the game.
Pokemon GO Thanksgiving Event Details
According to the source, the Pokemon who will increase in spawn rate are Spearow, Fearow, Psyduck, Golduck, Slowpoke, Slowbro, Ponyta and Rapidash. Although Niantic has never celebrated Thanksgiving in their other augmented reality game, Ingress, Pokemon GO is different due to its larger number of players online. The event will likely sit at around the 24th of November.
Due to Pokemon GO's Halloween event and its success, Niantic must've seen the coming holidays as more opportunities to earn big bucks and keep the players from quitting. And if the Thanksgiving event rumors are true, they probably can't wait for Christmas to come and want players to keep playing during the time in between. Despite the Thanksgiving holiday being a USA centric event, it could be implemented worldwide.
