How To Avoid The Bad Frame-Pacing PS4 Pro Issue On Final Fantasy XV

With the PlayStation 4 Pro, game updates are also released to ensure that it will run smoothly on the console. One of those games which received some updates include Final Fantasy XV. However, one problem that persists with the update is the bad frame-pacing issue. Here's how you can solve that and be able to play the game smoothly on your PS4 Pro console.

Before we start, it should be noted that the PS4 Pro support for the game is still a work in progress, which means it's not perfect and smooth yet. Despite this, Square Enix has managed to create an impressive and high dynamic quality visual which is combined with a properly configured 4K screen. This dynamic range is backed by a 1800p higher checkerboard solution and an improved image quality using tweaked LODs as well as improved texture filtering and shadows.

Aside from the high checkerboard resolution, Final Fantasy XV has a lite mode pares back the PS4 Pro to the standard PS4 visuals although there are fewer instances of dynamic resolution scaling. As of the moment, frame rates are pared back to the standard 30fps. Square Enix, however, is doing its best to achieve a 1080p60 mode. Now, since the visuals are impressive, the performance is not good and that' where the problem lies. When you play Final Fantasy XV on the PS4 Pro, its high resolution mode and base PS4 version experiences a bad frame frame-pace. This makes the 30fps resolution look like a low-quality version of the game which is quite distracting.

In order to avoid this distracting frame-pace issue, use the lite mode which will lock you 1080p30. You will still experience some stutter intrusions but they are relatively minor and everything is consistent aside from that. Most of all, these intrusions happen mostly during the cut-scenes.

This might not yet be as satisfying as playing the game in ultra HD, but it is the best you can get if you really want to play the game without any distractions and intrusions. For now, this is okay until Square Enix is able to find the solution to the issue and allow Final Fantasy XV players to play the game in high resolution Pro mode.
