It appears that a recent announcement about Star Wars Battlefront maintenance has resulted in rumors that its servers are shutting down in 2017. The video game is expecting a sequel this year, but does it mean that there is a shutting down of its current servers? Matt Everett, EA community manager, has endeavored to clarify this issue.
The Announcement Informed Players About The Game's Update And Maintenance
The announcement regarding Star Wars Battlefront maintenance indicated that a server update and maintenance will be conducted on Jan. 5, 2017. It informed the players that for one hour, multiplayer features of the game will not be available for every platform while work is being done on the server.
The announcement also gave further details about what items will be included in the update and maintenance as well as the time that will be spent in doing the work for Star Wars Battlefront. There is no mention of a shutting down of servers. However, it seems that the rumor still persisted, inducing Everett to issue a statement regarding this matter.
The Rumor Of Star Wars Battlefront Servers Shutting Down Is False
Everett dispelled the rumors in Star Wars Battlefront's official forums. He said that the rumors about servers going offline are totally false. He added that the servers of the video game will be continuously up and working for "time to come." If that is true, gamers don't have anything to worry about.
Everett also gave some hints about the upcoming update of Star Wars Battlefront. He added that this update will "tighten up the experience for existing players." According to him, players of the game will be informed about the details of the future patches as soon as they are made available.
The developers of the source thread stated that the update is now undergoing QA testing. Once the process is finished, the information will be published. It can be recalled that the Scarf DLC pack of Star Wars Battlefront was released on Dec. 6. That was the last major update for the game's multiplayer suite.
