'The Originals' Season 4: Elijah-Hayley Romance Shuttered By New Vampire; Network Yet To Announce Season 5?

"The Originals" season 5 is being confirmed by numerous reports, although there are no confirmations yet coming from CW. Rumors have it though that the network will announce sooner this month about the hit drama's renewal. Furthermore, fans have already been speculating the plot of the show's season 4, that the series will focus on Elijah and Hayley's romance.

According to reports, the vampire flick has already been renewed after "The Vampire Diaries" star Nina Dobrev has confirmed her return to the show. The CW president Mark Pedowitz though said in an interview that season 5 is still up for discussion, making "The Originals" season 5 talks mere speculations. Pedowitz also revealed that he already talked the matter to "TVD" showrunner Julie Plec.

However, Pedowitz gave fans a little hope by revealing that he is a fan of Plec's works and that he wishes to continue working on the series. He added that the possibility of season 5 will greatly depend on the performance of "The Originals" season 4. Fans then are fast to speculate that the network will drop the renewal announcement as soon as the fourth installment starts. Many are also expecting for the fifth installment to pick an October 2017 release.

Meanwhile, "The Originals" season 4 is scheduled for release in March, and fans already have their theories on what to expect on the show. While updates for the show are not that fast to come by, spoilers have it that season 4 will put the spotlight back on Elijah and Hayley's patched up a relationship. As of writing, "The Originals" season 4 will pick up five years from events on season 3. A new vampire named Alistair (Neil Jackson) is set to come to the show and talks have it that he will separate the couple.

"The Originals" season 4 is slated for release on March 17. Matt Davis's Alaric of "The Vampire Diaries" is reportedly making a crossover, following other stars who already appeared on the show including Michael Trevino's Tyler, Candice Accola-King's Caroline and Paul Wesley's Stefan. The upcoming season will feature only 13 episodes which are short of the usual 22 episodes of the previous installments.
