Horizon: Zero Dawn Expansion Already In The Works; Guns To Be Scrapped Out From The Game

Guerilla Games' Horizon: Zero Dawn launched with great success and critical acclaim from both fans and critics and as expected, the developers are now planning on a new expansion for the game. Although the idea of a franchise is still a concept, the developers have already shared some insights about the future of the game - including the removal of the Guns, entirely.

Horizon: Zero Dawn Successful Launching

Over the past weeks, Horizon: Zero Dawn already sold 2.6 million copies worldwide, making the game Guerilla Games' biggest debut and the best-selling new first-party IP on PlayStation 4. Given the enormous success of the title, it's safe to say that DLCs and Season Pass plans will come but it appears that the developers are planning on a much bigger project - making an entire franchise.

As reported by Gamerant, Hermen Hulst, the managing director of Guerilla Games stated: "This is only the beginning of Aloy's story and our exploration of the world of Horizon Zero Dawn, with the team already hard at work on an expansion to the story."

Horizon: Zero Dawn launched without prior notice regarding future DLCs and so, some fans were anxious as to what the developers have in stored ahead. Now, fans of the robo-dino open-world can finally be at peace as the developers explicitly stated that the game would continue for many years to come. What's more, Hulst has given some details regarding the potential contents of the expansion.

Guns To Be Scrapped out Of The Game?

Fans can expect that the expansion may soon be devoid by guns; considering how poorly received the weapon type currently is. The game director further noted that the team is intentionally removing the guns in the future expansions. Furthermore, despite the majority's request of multiplayer battles, it appears that the developers wouldn't include the feature in the franchise. Lastly, while Zero Dawn may be the beginning of Aloy's story, Hulst hinted that the main character wouldn't take part in the future expansions. Maybe the developers are planning of concluding Aloy's story in the next second or third DLCs?
