‘Attack On Titan' Season 2 Episode 4 Spoilers: Dancing Titan Comes To The Rescue; Reiner's Past Revealed

The latest episode of “Attack on Titan” Season 2 will be aired this weekend. A preview of the upcoming episode featured the bloody battle against titans in Utgard Castle, which will reveal the Dancing Titan. Meanwhile, the chaos forces Reiner to remember a bad childhood memory.

Battle Against Titans At Castle Utgard

“Attack on Titan” Season 2 Episode 3 revealed that Eren and other members of the Survey Corps are heading towards Utgard Castle to save their fellow soldiers. Meanwhile, Reiner, Ymir, Connie, Krista, and few more Survey Corps members are trapped within Utgard Castle after a swarm of mindless titans charged at them. The titans came out of nowhere when the Beast Titan called out to them, forcing the small group to seek refuge at the top of the crumbling abandoned castle with only limited equipment.

Fans of the series who have read the manga know that the battle at Utgard Castle will yield deaths and some revelations. Because the group was on the brink of death, Ymir openly transformed into the Dancing Titan to fight off the remaining mindless titans, revealing her guarded secret of being a titan shifter. Ironically, Ymir was the titan that played an unforgettable role in one of Reiner's dark childhood memories.

Reiner’s Past Revealed

As revealed in the preview for “Attack on Titan” Season 2 Episode 4, the next chapter has been titled “Soldier”, which fairly refers to Reiner Braun. Though the anime has yet to reveal the true identity of Reiner, it still does not change the fact that he is a soldier and will always be one. During the attack at Utgard Castle, despite his real intentions, he still saved his fellow soldiers from titans’ attacks, which even resulted in him getting injured.

During the attack, Ymir revealed that she’s the Dancing Titan, who Reiner and Bertolt recognized. Ymir obtained her power as a titan shifter when she killed and ate Reiner’s childhood friend, Marcel. Marcel, Reiner, Bertolt, and Annie were a group of rookie soldiers sent in to infiltrate and attack Paradis years ago. Marcel’s death has haunted the three since then especially Reiner because he nearly died that time and if it wasn’t for Marcel’s heroic act of pushing him away from harm, he would have been the one devoured by Ymir, a mindless titan back then that wandered for decades.
