Project Scorpio Specs, Release Date Revealed; PS4 Pro Rival Currently Making 'Amazing Progress', Phil Spencer Says

2016 has been amazing so far for the gaming community, especially with leaks of new game consoles. Video Game enthusiasts are once again divided with which gaming platform to get. And to the business end, tech rival companies are once again battling it out - Sony with its PlayStation 4 Pro launch in November, Nintendo with Switch in March next year, and Microsoft with their "monster" machine called Project Scorpio with no release date confirmed but is said to come out Holidays 2017. So if you are planning to get all three (you, lucky you), then you definitely have ample time to save cash.

Microsoft Project Scorpio Update

Since the PS4 Pro is about to be released in just a couple of weeks, of course, Microsoft needs to keep Project Scorpio still in hype. So they updated their landing page and it now proudly shows a new screenshot of the upcoming console with Xbox Scorpio specs.

Project Scorpio Specs

Xbox One Project Scorpio will feature an 8-core processor, 320 GB/s memory bandwidth, high fidelity VR, and 6-teraflops of GPU power. With the mentioned specs, this will allow for Microsoft's upcoming console to deliver true 4k gaming. That means the PS4 Pro and Xbox Project Scorpio will fight it out with their 4k functionality.

PS4 Pro vs Project Scorpio: 4k Gaming

Since Xbox Scorpio has just recently confirmed that it will have 4k functionality, gamers will then get to face one of the biggest dilemmas in their entire gaming lives - which is better at 4k, PS4 Pro or Microsoft Scorpio?

According to expertreviews.co.uk, while it's hard to conclude at this point since one is still in development, Project Scorpio's 6 teraflops could definitely give out "true" 4k gaming. On the other hand, based on PS4 Pro's specs, it may handle the 4k functionality with "technical trickery."

Phil Spencer on Project Scorpio release date

In addition, Xbox head, Phil Spencer, stated that he's not actually worried about the PS4 Pro being launched early since they are more focused on producing a solid product. Spencer added that Project Scorpio is in "amazing progress" and he feels "good about schedule". No need to rush and we can all definitely agree to that. Hey, if they said that Project Scorpio is indeed over "four times more powerful than the original Xbox One", we are more than willing to wait for this "mean machine" that Microsoft has been mysteriously working on.
