Final Fantasy XV Guide: Find Out The Ways To Earn AP Here

Ability Points (AP) are important in Final Fantasy XV. Enough of them can earn your characters new skills in the Ascension Grid or level up the existing ones. You'll find that you will earn some through normal means, but here are different ways to gain them to help you find the most suitable farming method for you.

Leveling Up

This one seems pretty obvious. When your Final Fantasy XV character levels up, you will receive some AP to spend in the Ascension Grid. However, the amount you gain isn't much. In fact, you only gain about two points each level, so you will have to find other ways to earn AP.

Completing Quests

Like the one above, this is straightforward. You also get AP on top of other rewards for completing Final Fantasy XV quests. This and leveling up both offer a constant stream of points to spend in the Ascension Grid, but ultimately, they aren't nearly enough. Some missions even have specific non-mandatory objectives that will award you bonus AP when you complete them.

During Combat

Sometimes, a challenge will appear as you're about to enter combat. If you fulfill said challenge, you get bonus AP. The harder the challenge, the more points you get. Link Attacks also get you some AP, but not always. You have a higher chance of earning some if the attack kills the enemy. Warp Strike does the same. It awards you 1 AP when you kill the enemy with it.

Conversations

One thing about Final Fantasy XV is that conversations aren't dull. Some even get you a chance to earn AP on the side. Pay attention to the character you're speaking with so when presented with options to respond, you have a higher chance of answering correctly. Doing so will net you AP or even EXP.

Traveling

Riding Chocobos or driving can give you AP. However, you will need to spend a lot of AP in the Final Fantasy XV Ascension Grid to get to this point. If you want to earn some while just driving around, unlock the Roadrunning Skill. If you want to benefit from riding Chocobos for a long time, unlock the Chocobump Skill. You can even ride your Chocobo to enter races, which will also get you additional AP aside from Gil and other rewards.

Fishing

The Final Fantasy XV mini-game fishing offers a lot of benefits to players. Aside from strangely relaxing for Noctis and you (complete with an MP3 player), you get ingredients for Noctis to cook and even earn some AP. You will have to unlock the Angler Action Skill first, though. After which, you will earn 1 AP every time you catch a fish.

Other Actions

There are other actions in the game that will get you some AP. Camping, for example, will earn you 1 AP provided you do so in a different spot. Tours that prompt in the morning after camping will also net you more AP at 20 each, which is a lot.

You can also unlock these skills in the Ascension Grid to earn 1 AP every time you use them: Armiger Action, Armiger-Chain Reaction, Magic Action and Appetize, which gives AP every time Ignis cooks the favorite meal of any of the gang.

Unlocking most of the skills in the Ascension Grid is the most effective way of farming AP, in my opinion. You can do most of the stuff above passively so you can build your dream team in no time.
