Overwatch Players React To Blizzard's Bad Server Routing Service

One of the most recurring problems in Overwatch is the bad server routing service which forces players to be directed on a different server that results in differing latency and even high pings. Today, players are making an outcry to make some changes with the routing system specifically for those playing in AU and BR servers.

Prominent Overwatch Problem: High Ping

Did you suddenly find yourself in a game with severe latency spike? If so, then you may have been routed to a different server unknowingly. This is a system introduced by Blizzard in Overwatch to prevent players from waiting long queues especially in certain places where player-based are minimal. It is also there to prevent players from utter disconnection upon incidents such as server crashes.

The purpose of the system is great but it also has its drawbacks including the one that some communities are currently facing. Players from AU constantly complain about the sudden routing and/or re-routing to the US servers. This leads to a spike of 200+ ping which can be very frustrating especially for FPS games.

Players' Plea

Players on Reddit reiterated that they'd rather have delayed queues than being directed to a different server with severe lag spikes. Players also emphasized the need to explicitly define what server they're currently playing especially in some rare cases where they're being routed to a non-native English region (for WTFast tweaking, etc.).

The server routing problem has been an issue to many players including to those connecting in the BR region. According to one player, their community page is filled with complaints regarding the routing system that's been a problem for a week now.

This routing issue is not new to the community as it has been introduced in the game ever since its release. But until today, Blizzard has yet to make some changes with the system and there's still no news whether or not they're addressing the case.
