Samsung Galaxy Reverb On Virgin Mobile Now Getting Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Update

Yet another Samsung Galaxy device is receiving the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean software update, but this time round it's the Galaxy Reverb which hit the shelves in Sept. 2012.

Users on carrier Virgin Mobile in the U.S. who own the Galaxy Reverb will benefit from the software update.

According to an IBTimes report "Virgin Mobile's Samsung Galaxy Reverb has begun receiving Jelly Bean OS update from 16 May, confirmed by many users on different technology platforms."

Even though earlier this year Samsung had let on that it will push out Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean for its older devices, the update for the Galaxy Reverb has come as a bit of a surprise. The update, it seems, has made its way sooner than expected.

A few days ago, an anonymous Virgin Mobile representative confirmed that the Galaxy Reverb offered by the carrier would get the update. However, the source claimed that the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update would be rolled out on May 22.

The Galaxy Reverb features a 3.97-inch TFT display with 800 x 480 resolution and is fueled by a 1.4GHz processor. The smartphone packs in a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. At the time of launch, the Galaxy Reverb came with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) out of the box.

Samsung Galaxy Reverb owners on Virgin Mobile are reporting they have received the much-expected Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update. Samsung too has confirmed the update; however, the over-the-air (OTA) update is being rolled out in phases by Virgin Mobile and, therefore, not all Galaxy Reverb owners may receive it at the same time.

To check if your Galaxy Reverb has received the OTA update, go to Settings>About Device> Software Update> Check for Update.
