A site that looks pure evil has surfaced on the internet bearing the domain diablo2hd.com, making everyone aware that certainly, "Evil Has Survived," plus it shows a sinister countdown to something more evil. Right in between shows, the skeletal face Diablo, the Lord of Terror himself, smirks vindictively.
The countdown hits zero at the start of BlizzCon, and a /whois query unveils has just recently been created on August 18, 2016 - tracking back significance, this is almost a year to the day after a reported new Diablo project was announced and is in motion. We did it! The puzzle is about to be solved as its pieces come together!
OMG Diablo 2 HD!
Let's put on some brakes as PCGamer reached out to Blizzard to inquire about the intriguing website. What they got in response: "This isn't ours." What a disappointing outcome. The site seems to be a fake, for now - still hoping. Diablo 2 among the top picks for Blizzard games to receive an HD treatment, and looking at that website made such excitement for old-school Diablo 2 players.
This does not mean that it will not happen eventually as the demand for Diablo 2 HD is still significant. The job listing for art director, apparently, has been taken. At least that was real, and Blizzard is still searching for a new game director for Diablo to replace Josh Msqueira - RIP bro. These are the signs that Diablo fans need to hold to. The ol'demon will return soon, whatever Blizzard is up to, they're zipping their mouths for now.
BlizzCon 2016 will start Nov. 4 and ends by Nov. 5. You may get your virtual tickets at blizzcon.com. Anyway, we bet there is something new for Diablo this year. Might not be a Diablo 2 HD, but at least there is something to look forward to.
