"The Vampire Diaries" is coming to its last and final season and many are still wondering if Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) would still come back on the "bloody" show before it comes to an end. A lot of speculations have continued to make rounds before season 8 premieres on Oct. 21.
"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 will finally be hitting the silver screen this month but there's no official word yet whether Dobrev comes back on the show. Is the controversial Damon-Elena tandem finally over as "The Vampire Diaries" caps this season?
For now, it remains blank as to whether this infamous screen couple (former real-life couple) are getting back together. Producers of the show have not commented until now despite queries whether Dobrev will fill in Elena's character which was ditched in the previous season.
Elena Might Be Reunited With Damon
However, in a statement to Entertainment Weekly, "The Vampire Diaries" executive producer Julie Plec teased "TVD" fans that "...whatever it is that Damon (Ian Somerhalder) has to do could impact his ability to be reunited with Elena one day." Is this green light that Dobrev might indeed be reprising Elena's character in the show? If yes, many Delena fans must be happy by now.
Stefan's Concern About Damon
The producer was asked to share details about Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Caroline Forbes' (Candice King) characters this season. As revealed, "The Vampire Diaries" will premiere with Stefan's qualms over Damon's situation as he "will be possessed by an evil entity," IB Times reported.
"Stefan somehow inherently understands that what's happened to his brother is not Damon's fault. Whatever is going on with Damon, he's under some sort of control or is in some situation that he can't entirely get out of. He's very focused on trying to rescue his brother from this mess," Plec said.
"The Vampire Diaries" Without Elena Is 'Scary'
In a previous report from MTV, it said the thought of the series moving on without Elena's character is "scary" and "like setting into forth into the great unknown." However, the show was embraced really well still in season 7.
"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 premieres Friday, Oct. 21 on The CW.
