Ever since the announcement of the Nintendo NX, nothing has been confirmed about the console. That is, except for its infamous March 2017 release date. Otherwise, only half-confirmed rumours have been making the rounds online. So at this point in the game, would it actually be beneficial or detrimental to Nintendo to stick with its promised release date?
This Is Why Nintendo Should Just Come Clean And Officially Delay The Release
As Forbes notes, Nintendo has confused the gaming world by keeping incredibly tight-lipped about the NX, despite saying earlier that the company would discuss the console in order to control expectations. And yet, 9 months into the year and nothing has still been said.
At this point, the publication argues that Nintendo would benefit more from just moving the March 2017 release date altogether. The first step would have to be admitting this necessity and making the corresponding announcement soon.
But the reason why a delayed release could work well for the gaming company is that there has already been several new consoles announced this year. As such, there is a lack of options for the holidays next year, which Nintendo could easily fill with the NX. If it were to follow its March plans, the company could be giving up larger profits.
Furthermore, it can only be speculated that the reason why Nintendo has not released an announcement is simply because it is not ready yet. And as Shigeru Miyamoto has said before, "a delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is bad forever."
This Is Why Nintendo Should Just Still Release The NX On March 2017
According to WCCFTech, the release of the Nintendo NX is not going to be delayed. In fact, the publication claimed that it will sport a 6.3" 720p multi-touch screen and a dock station with USB ports and that a 32GB prototype of the device is already in testing. They also shared that the unit will have a split D-Pad and "share" button.
If this is true and the company does stick to its March release, there are benefits as well. The most important of which might be that Nintendo would not have let down its fans. With the hype that has followed the Nintendo NX, a delay might be the last straw for gamers to lose faith in the brand.
Following that train of thought, the current hype over the Nintendo NX might be incredibly beneficial to the console. Despite its relatively mysterious features and specs, there is no doubt that it is being talked about. And if Nintendo can carry through, there could be no stopping it.
