Pokemon Go Gen 2 Update: Everything You Need To Know About Tyranitar

Pokemon Go Gen 2 fever continues as fans are pumped up to see this upcoming feature/update to Niantic's augmented reality game. Previously, there are several Gen 2 predictions and analysis on how and when to introduce the new update. However, just like any major patches, the details regarding its release date remains unclear. Currently, reports show that there will be major changes in the gyms once Gen 2 Pokemon arrive, especially Tyranitar.

According to the report from Otakukart, Tyranitar is part of the second generation of Pokemon and is considered as the pseudo-legendary of the said batch. Based on the report, the arrival of Gen 2 update would positively bring diversity in gyms since more Pokemon will be added to the game with various skills that are capable of defending a particular gym location.

Meanwhile, Tyranitar is offensively expected to be a direct counter of all present top gym defenders in Pokemon Go - Dragonite, Exeggutor, Lapras, Slowbro and Snorlax. This is due to Tyranitar's rock/dark type which can resist the majority of the best defensive move sets and can most likely to hit them back effectively.

On the other hand, Tyranitar might struggle against Vaporeon defensively. Additionally, Dragonite which has been considered as the god of gyms might find another rival once generation 2 arrives since all defensive sets not carrying a Steel Wing cannot deal much damage with Tyranitar's rock attribute.

By far, current Rock types were not able to achieve top gym contender positions due to their low base stats. However, Tyranitar should be able to attain this since it has a very high base stat similar to Dragonite with 600. That being said, we might witness another ruler in Pokemon Go gyms.
