Pokemon Sun And Moon Guide: How To Catch Jangmo-o, Hakamo-o And Kommo-o

Jangmo-o is quite hard to find in Pokemon Sun and Moon, but following this guide will surely help you find one in the wild. There are no special tricks in finding it. In fact, you just have to run around in a specific patch of grass and hope you encounter it. When you do, you can even get yourself a Hakamo-o and Kommo-o.

Where To Catch Jangmo-o

You will find a Jangmo-o in the Poni Canyon in both Pokemon Sun and Moon. You can find it in a patch of grass just before you reach the Altar. Now, all you have to do is run around this area for a while for a chance encounter with the dragon type Pokemon.

Other trainers have reported finding Jangmo-o under a tree also in Poni Canyon. It's the same tree where you can crawl under that leads to the ponds where TM35 is. It's near the end of the canyon, so look out for it. It has an extremely low encounter rate at only 5%, but if you are patient enough, you will eventually catch one.

Another thing to note is that you can find a Hakamo-o and Kommo-o if you are lucky. Using the ally chaining method, which is explained here, you can have the Jangmo-o call for a Hakamo-o or Kommo-o. The former is more likely to appear, but the last of its evolution line coming to help is not unheard of.

Be prepared to allot 45 minutes or more of your time, though. It seems to be the average length of time to find one as the video below and many others have noted. It can even take up to an hour. Prepare more minutes (or even hours) for a Shiny one or one with Hidden Abilites.

Jangmo-o's Skills And Abilities

Jangmo-o either has the Bulletproof or Soundproof ability. The former "protects the Pokemon from some ball and bomb moves" while the other one allows it to become immune to Sound moves. "If this Pokémon switches out with Baton Pass, Perish Song against the switched out will not be nullified," its full profile in Serebii.net reads.

Its HA overcoat is incredibly useful, too. What it does is protect Jangmo-o from Weather Effects and Powder moves like Poison Powder, Sleep Powder and such. Other have noted that the first one you encounter might not be that great in terms of Nature and IVs, so if you are planning to use one competitively, you might have to run and run and run...

It evolves into a Hakamo-o at level 35 with 420 base stats and into Kommo-o at level 45 with a powerful 600 base stats. For comparison, the cover Legendaries Solgaleo and Lunala have 680 base stats, so I can definitely see why everyone would want one (aside from completing the Pokedex).
