The topic of LGBT characters coming to Overwatch isn't entirely a new thing. Most, if not all, players are even expecting it. Finally, it all became true when Blizzard released a new comic (particularly themed for the Holiday season) titled Reflections. Although it won't necessarily affect the game, it's now confirmed that, at least, one of the heroes is gay. And it's no other than Tracer, the amiable time traveler.
Sometime last year, the studio already gave hint that one of the title's characters is gay. It's only this time that the "who" was finally unearthed. Apparently, Tracer has a "lover" -- a girlfriend in particular -- by the name of Emily. It's safe to say that, in one way or another, this comes as a surprise.
The aforementioned Overwatch hero is known to be badass. That she actually has all the potentials of kicking anyone despite her being a woman. And this is exactly why the community loves her. Heck, add to that the fact that she's adorable and cute. While her being gay is not really a crime, it's inevitable if some players' views towards her will be kind of different from now on (which shouldn't be the case).
According to Bleeding Cool, the comics called Reflections follows Tracer making her way through the Holiday rush in hopes to buy a gift. Winston, on the other hand, is setting things up in the house for Christmas. Unfortunately, Tracer gets delayed, as she has to tackle a thief. As a result, the stores are already close before she can even buy. Luckily, the people who she saves give her gifts in the form of thanks. Tracer then decides to go him, with nothing to give to her girlfriend Emily. Fortunately for the hero, she receives a gift from her girl's family which is a scarf. The two then goes to Winston's to celebrate the season.
It's no late light news that Blizzard wants Overwatch to be diverse. That the game, despite being such, can represent anyone on this Earth. And it's actually happening in the title. The heroes all come from mix races, with each featuring different personalities and characteristics. It just so happens that the studio finally admitted (in the form of comics) that one of these heroes is gay.
