Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood Confirmed To Arrive June 20, 2017; Yasumi Matsuno Returns To Write Script

Just in time for the Christmas eve, Final Fantasy XIV has been revealed at the Fan Festival 2016 in Japan that its forthcoming expansion Stormblood will be out on June 20, 2017. Square Enix has also divulged that the new content will bring back Yasumi Matsuno and a couple of other veteran members in the development team.

Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood Release Date

Square Enix just announced at the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival held in Japan last Saturday, Dec. 24 that the game's new expansion titled Stormblood is hitting all platforms on June 20, 2017. The pre-orders will kick off on Jan. 24, 2017. Alongside Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood is a collector's edition which contains a Bartz minion, a Syldra mount and a Chicken Knife for Red Mages.

For those who are left confused by what Red Mages do, they are designed to be a magic damage-dealer. Rapier and a magicked crystal medium are their main weapon. They utilize both Black and White magics. Red Mages begin at level 50 with no related class.

Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival 2016

Fans should be excited to know what went down during at the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival 2016 event. Composer Nobuo Uematsu revealed the central theme of Stormblood with regards to musical score. He stressed out via a clip that the composing is already half done which he described "upbeat and emotionally strong," according to a US Gamer report.

The clip also unveiled some top-caliber in-game raids. The Bend of Time-Omega is the first raid wherein eight players compete against each other for the ultimate prize which appears to be a revamped version of the Omega weapon. Return to Ivalice is the second raid which is a 24-man quest. Square Enix is happy to announce that Yasumi Matsuno returns to write the script for the second raid, while Keita Amemiya comes in to design all bosses.

In the meantime, Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood will also track an off-the-beaten path wherein characters can swim and dive.
