McDonald's Nutrition: No More Antibiotics In Chicken

Everyone's favorite chicken haven will be undergoing some changes this upcoming 2017 onwards. McDonald's nutrition notes that Wendy's Co, Burger King and Tim Horton's plan to do the same act of serving food made of antibiotic-free chickens.

"We believe that it is important to reduce the use of antibiotics important for human medicine in order to preserve the effectiveness of antibiotics in both veterinary and human medicine," Restaurant Brands International Inc. stated.

As reported in The News, around 70 percent of antibiotics for human infections and surgeries are being sold to be utilized in meat and dairy production. With the overuse of these drugs, the number of life-threatening human infections from antibiotic-resistant bacteria are rising. The bacteria is also known as "superbugs."

To address this issue, McDonald's Corp decided to remove all types of antibiotics essential for human consumption. Wendy's Co also mentioned that they will be raising chickens that are free of antibiotics important to human health.

Another player, KFC, is known for their booming fast-food chicken chain. For this reason, it has committed to finishing the switch to chicken that are free of antibiotics to be accomplished by the end of 2019.
