Steam Releases Most Played Game Titles For 2016

It is quite rare to find any PC gamer not using the Steam gaming platform nowadays, in fact, tracking Steam game usage is not unusual just to find out which games made it to the top of the list. At present, numerous analysts are delving into the 2016 data and some of the data from Steam last year generated some great real surprises.

An analysis from GitHyp indicates that the games from the year 2015 were able to make it to the top in the 2016 Steam performers. Apparently, it is worth noting that it occupied the five spots for players per hour. Out of the top five titles, there were four which were also included in last year's shortlisted title, and Team Fortress 2 was also able to win the top players per hour title for the year 2016.

Based on the report, these are the following game titles that made the list of most played Steam games of 2016. First is Dota 2, which has an average of 636,607 players per hour (#1 in 2015), followed by Counter-Strike: Global Offensive that has 360,600 average players per hour (#2 in 2015). Next is Team Fortress 2 which recorded an average of 50,802 players per hour (#4 in 2015). Grand Theft Auto V comes in fourth gathering an average of 40,258 players per hour (#5 in 2015) and Sid Meier's Civilization V which has 37,885 average players per hour (#9 in 2015).

Major e-sports games like DOTA 2 and Counter Strike are not a surprise if they will make into the top spots. GTA: Online is a revenue-generating machine and it continues to push fans to steal the cars of Los Santos. Civilization 6, on the other hand, was not able to beat its predecessor as per average player count.

Meanwhile, Game Rant mentions that the ultimate winner for the last two years as per Steam metrics is DOTA 2. The game was able to retain its top spot in terms of average players per hour and peak players, thus it finished leagues above its competitors in two categories.
