NetherRealm has launched the official teaser to when they will release the next hero. So far, there are over 31 playable characters with a few more to possibly come.
Injustice 2 New Character On the Way
GameSpot reports that NetherRealm will announce their next hero next week. They posted a pre-announcement on the game's official website with the reveal coming on Feb. 23. There also seems to be a base model alongside the official announcement but it does not seem to hint at any potential heroes.
The Currently Confirmed Playable Roster
So far, there are 31 confirmed playable characters, as per PVP Live. New characters include Atrocious who is the leader of the Red Lanterns. Next, Supergirl joins the fight after her recent popularity surge because of her hit show on the CW. Moreover, Blue Beetle is another character who also gained some fame after his inclusion in the Young Justice show.
Meanwhile, this also marks the villainous Gorilla Grodd's first appearance in the series. Furthermore, Swamp Thing enters the fray with his vile vegetations that decimate his enemies. Finally, Black Canary, Poison Ivy and Cheetah help balance the gender ratio which was one major nitpick from the previous game. On a side note, Brainiac, Darkseid, Bane and Green Lantern are already supposedly confirmed but lack any gameplay videos.
On the other hand, some familiar faces include Superman, Batman, Aquaman and the Flash. Robin also returns but seems to be a grown-up rendition of Damian Wayne who might or might not have murdered Dick Grayson aka Nightwing. Wonder Woman also reprises her role and fittingly so after her role in the film, Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice.
The femme fatale Catwoman also makes her way back to the series although her overall morals in the story are still questionable. Finally, Deadshot and Harley were revealed around the same time as the Suicide Squad film, hinting at a marketing tie-in. Nonetheless, the two of them are popular in their own right with the film promoting further boosting their fanbase. Injustice 2 will officially launch for the PS4 and Xbox One on May 16.
