Blac Chyna’s quest to securing the Kardashians’ trademark surname has finally reached a verdict. It has been reported recently that she has been denied the said name. The Kardashian sisters took action and explained their side.
Blac Chyna Fails To Get Kardashian Trademark
It has just been confirmed that the court has denied Blac Chyna’s attempt to legally acquire the Kardashian name. Since last year, she's been working on getting the name Angela Renee Kardashian to become a trademark and gain rights to it. This legal quest started out when she and her then fiancé Rob Kardashian was expecting their child, Dream Renee Kardashian.
Blac Chyna filed an application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (UPT) as early as May 2016. It would have been feasible at that time since she and Rob did get engaged and if they got married, she would have gained the name anyway. According to the documents, which accommodated her application, it revealed that the trademark would be used for advertising services, entertainment services, personal appearances, and other various perks.
Kardashian Sisters Succeed In Barring Blac Chyna’s Attempt
Blac Chyna’s attempt to secure the Kardashian trademark was thwarted when Rob’s three sisters, namely Kim, Khloe, and Kourtney opposed the application. The three Kardashians countered the application for trademark stating their legal rights to the name. They have emphasized that they will “suffer irreparable injury to their reputation and goodwill” if Blac Chyna succeeds in legally obtaining the Kardashian name.
Winning the hearts of the Kardashians seems farfetched right now for the model-entrepreneur. The Kardashians most likely opposed the application because they have never had genuine good ties with Blac Chyna. The sisters also revealed that they have lost their trust in her when she decided to file for the application for the trademark. It also doesn’t help that Blac Chyna’s relationship with their brother, Rob has always been on the rocks.
It has always been evident that the Kardashians had a case but Blac Chyna’s side is still shocked by the verdict, with her lawyer pointing out that this is his first trademark case loss. A source close to Blac Chyna also revealed that despite what the application implies, she only did it to protect her name once she and Rob presumably got married and that she wanted to share a name with her daughter.
