HTC has officially announced the HTC One mini. The smartphone is a mini version of the company's HTC One and HTC has posted a first-look video of the handset.
HTC has proven that Samsung isn't the only company making popular Android smartphones. When the company launched its flagship HTC One it won rave reviews in the tech world because of its premium design, high-end specs, and HTC specific features it added to Android. The company is capitalizing on that success and will be bringing its first phablet to the market in the future and with its just announced HTC One mini.
The HTC One mini, as its name implies, is a smaller version of the HTC One. The smaller size and mid-range specs also allow the company to offer the handset at a lower price point. The HTC One mini features a 334ppi (pixels per inch) 4.3-inch 1280 x 720 Super LCD3 display, runs Android 4.2.2 with Sense 5.0 and BlinkFeed, is powered by a 1.4GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor with an Andreno 305 GPU )graphics processing unit), includes 16GB of internal storage, 1GB of RAM, a 4-megapixel UltraPixel rear camera with HTC Zoe support, a 1.6-megapixel front facing shooter, A 4G LTE radio, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/c/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, HTC BoomSound with front facing dual-stereo speakers, and a 1,800 mAh non-removable battery. Its dimensions are 132 x 63.2 x 9.25mm and weighs 122g. It is also wrapped in the same anodized aluminum unibody enclosure that made the HTC One so popular.
HTC created a first look video of the smartphone to highlight what consumers can expect in the HTC One mini. The smartphone will be competing with the Galaxy S4 mini, Sony's upcoming 'Honami' mini, Apple's much rumored low-cost iPhone, and other mid-range smartphones. It remains to be seen how the HTC One mini will do, but in terms of design and hardware, consumers are getting a mid-range device with a high-end feel.
The company hasn't announced carrier partners, but AT&T and T-Mobile are rumored to begin offering the HTC One mini in the near future. Check out the video below.
