'Fallout 4' Mod Contest: How to Win a Customized PC and $40K from Bethesda [Steps and Guidelines]

In celebration of their biggest DLC release yet, game publisher Bethesda is pushing fans of the "Fallout" franchise to create their own game mods. "Fallout 4: Far Harbor" was recently released to good reviews as the DLC - as promised by Bethesda - was big and included plenty of new locations. As for the contest, applicants get a chance to win up to $40,000 worth of prizes.

How to Enter the Contest

As stated by NVIDIA, interested applicants first need to choose between 4 categories - Status, Inventory, Data and Map.

  • Status is for mods that are targeted to manipulate the way things happen in the game, such as audio, how the characters speak and how utilities work.
  • Inventory is for creating weapons, or bettering current ones. On the other hand, Data is for mods that focus on new quests and the workshop mode of "Fallout 4."
  • Map is meant to feature new environmental elements, which fans know play a big part of the game.

Requirements to Win

The mods will be judged based on originality and creativity, graphical or functional quality and entertainment value. As many as five mods per category will be picked by NVIDIA before everything is left to the public. Public voting is set to begin by the week of July 11th.

Sending the Finished Mod to Bethesda

After a category is chosen, applicants need to download and proceed with the "Fallout 4" Creation Kid Mod, which will help them create the mod based on the above criteria. Once the mod is finished, applicants need to upload the mod, as well as provide a screenshot or video of the mod's mechanics to Bethesda.net.

Lastly, applicants are to submit their official entry form from the contest site. Along with the application form, a screenshot of the Mod, a YouTube link, description and the Mod URL from Bethesda.net are needed as well.

Inquistr reported on the possible gains from entering the contest, other than experience and change to share personal mods. Making it to the top 20 will give finalists a Bethesda gift bag and a GeForce® GTX GPU. For the ones that make first place in each category, an additional $5,000 will be given. For the grand winner, the cash prize is $10,000 and an additional custom "Fallout 4" PC.
